Low White Blood Cell count 2 years after chemo

by cjplattner, Mar 23, 2006 12:00AM
Hello,

I'm two years past my last chemo. Everything has been looking good, except I can't seem to get my WBC to go up and stay up. Currently results are 4.4 with Lymphocytes at .6.

Could my low WBC be from chemo damage?  How long does it take one's blood to get back to normal ranges after chemo? Can WBC in the lower ranges be expected after chemo?

Thanks

Have you taken anything like Neupogen (sp)?  GCSF is the medical term for the drug.  My daughter took it to elevate and keep elevated her white count.  She had a rare blood disorder when she was born and she had no white count so they gave her that drug that they give chemo patients to elevate those counts.  She went to St Jude in Memphis, TN for 5 years.  BTW, she is perfectly healthy now.
