Thanks for your thoughts, Pam. I have already talked this over with my oncologist, and she encouraged me to use the detox teas, in general. They already know about all the supplements recommended by my naturopath. By the time the chemo gets to the liver and kidneys, it is no longer available to fight the cancer, but it can damage those organs if not flushed. That's why they encourage lots of water after chemo--to help flush it out of the kidneys and to a lesser extent, the liver. It might be different for someone with cancer in the liver, but for ovarian with mets in the lung, my situation, that's what she said. What she didn't know, and what I'm trying to discover, is any possibility that these actions could also help with platelet recovery.
Before taking any types of supplements, herbal teas, etc, you should discuss it with your doctor. Many doctors do not want you to detox right now, the chemicals in your body are fighting the cancer.
I am not certain about what is best to eat, etc....but, again, discuss it with your doctor, maybe they will recommend a nutritionist.
Best of luck,
Pam
