Lupron

This is my first post..any asvice would be appreciated.I have endo, fibroid tumors, enlarged uterus, cysts on both ovaries, my md said he thinks I also have a condition called aym...I forgot the name(sorry). It is where the uterine lining grows into the uterine muscle. He wants to try Lupron to shrink my uterus before surgery, but I have heard really bad side effects.Has anyone had the same problems?  I am at a loss as to have the Lupron first or just go ahead with the hystorectomy.

A friend of mine tried doing the gnRH nose spray instead of the injections and it ruptured several blood vessels in her face that will not go away and that was 5-6 years ago.  Think about it, if it is powerful enough to treat prostate cancer then it is some pretty powerful stuff.  I too have researched it because it had originally been in the mix to try it as adignostic tool for my pain.  He is doing a diagnostic lap and if I do have endo, I am sure I will be faced with that option.  I feel most sure that I will decline it.

DON'T DO IT!  I was put on Lupron for 6 months at 21 to help my endometriosis symptoms.  I didn't research and my doctor didn't let me know about all the problems it can cause.  I gained 70 pounds, had terrible mood swings and my now husband said that I wasn't myself during that time.  It did help my symptoms, but when a drug basically tells your brain that you are in metapause, strange things happen to your body.  The hot flashes were the easy part.  I actually didn't finish the 6th month becuase it was that horrible.  Honestly, after talking with people, it isn't the "wonder drug" they say it is.  Research as much as you can and make an educated decision.  Don't go in blind like I did.  Good luck!

I recently had one dose (injection) of this Lupron Depot. The next day I had body aches like even a person such as myself had never experieinced with Fibromyalgia in 20 years. The 3rd day the horrific headaches began in the back of the head and neck. Then nausea, chills, fatgiue, insomnia and finally hot flashes. The side effects out numbered my pain of ovarian cysts.
I was extremely upset with myself in this internet day and age, to go and get an injection without researching first. Just google this: lupron side effects and/or class action suits and lupron. You will be terrified as I was.
Just my experience and everyone is different that is gospel !
I have now opted for ovary removal after the past year of ovulating hell..

Good luck *

You have a tough decision. I can relate to your choices.  Over a year ago, after surgery, it was recommended that I take Lupron for  six months.  I declined due to concerns over the possible side effects.  I am so sensitive that I cannot even take bcp's.  However, I am back to where I started, I think, so this time I will probably opt for a hysterectomy if I must have surgery.  But that is not necessarily the choice for you.  Sometimes it helps to get a second opinion from a doctor.
