MY SITUATION

by KCeee41, Sep 21, 2004 12:00AM
Vag US - left ovary mass 4.6x4.4x3.5 cm.  right ovary 2x1/4 cm. Uterus measures 10.1x5.4x4.7cm  small mass in anterior body o futerus measuring 1.1 x 1.1 x 1 cm (uterin fibroid).  Mass may represent a solid neoplasm or endometrioma.  First doctor basically dismissed everything and said I could wait for surgery with this report. Said he would start with left ovary, remove mass and remove anything else that he saw during surgery.  I postponed surgery and gave report to PCM doctor to put in file.  She flagged it and sent me to a GYN/ONC.  ONC said he would do a complete hysterectomy.  He said he would not do anything else because of my age, my history, etc. He did order a CA125 that came back 188.  They called yesterday and said they wanted to schedule my surgery.  I am apprehensive.  Why can't we start slow, take ovary, see what's up, etc.  WHy the complete hysterectomy?  Also....should this be done now?  Can I wait?  I'm not comfortable with this surgeon. History: 1 live birth, infertility patient with 6 cycles of perganol and 2 cycles of clomid.  Never a birth during infertility treatments.  1 myomectomy for fibroids, 2 laporoscopies-endometriosis, 1 laporotomy-cysts - I also have Multiple Sclerosis.
