Well, I don't know what to say.  It is such a mix of good and bad news. I am sorry they found something new, but I am glad they have a good plan for you and that you and your onc are in sync on this. It helps a lot if you don't have to fight your Dr too. Good luck Marie.  You know I wish you nothing but the best.  You certainly deserve a break.  Speaking of which, are you still watching the little ones?  It is time to concentrate on taking care of YOU and I hope you get the chance to do that. I'll be praying and thinking good thoughts for you honey.

Love ya bunches.

Yes I was relieved my onc and I are finally thinking along the same line.  I went there with a purse full of studies and literature from oncology journals to back me up and I didn't even need to get them out.  She was a jump ahead of me.  The only thing we disagree on is that she thinks the platinum chemo worked for me all this time.  I don't think so.  My cancer was just slow growing and it took this long to grow enough to find on the CT.  Small implants were left behind in my original debulking surgery and the chemo didnt get rid of them.  I will do what the tumor board suggests, but I feel the colon cancer chemo is the way to go for me.  I will just have to do some more waiting to get the final verdict on treatment plan. Thanks, Marie

Being sick is hard enough; having a doctor that cares helps a lot. As for the "happy juice" for the biopsy, I hope it's Versed. They used that for each of my heart procedures. As much as I don't like medications, that drug is terrific. Relaxes you as well as causes some amnesia so you don't remember much of what was going on. But they can still talk to you. I often wonder what else I may have said while under the influence. :-)

We'll all be waiting to hear the news. In the meantime, you'll be surrounded by hugs.

((((you))))    Irene

Marie,
I am so sorry to hear this latest news. You are right, it just seems to come out of nowhere and hit  you somewhere else.  Your onc seems like she is in total agreement with you and that is the best news. Having a supportive onc. that listens to you. She sounds positive and that is wonderful. I will keep you in my prayers.  Hugs, Colleen

They will be calling me to set the Chicago appointment.  My onc wants it to be done before the 20th of this month since I see her on the 20th.  The liver biopsy will be on Fri the 13th.  PET scan on the 10th.  It is so strange that I am able to feel fairly normal with so much cancer in me.  I am glad I was able to sleep okay.  Love, Marie

I'm so happy your doctor is finally listening to you!!  I suppose we can't change the news you got, but if you had to get it, it is made somewhat easier by having your doctor in your corner doing everything she can to make sure you're taken care of.  Don't guess you know when you'll be going to see the doc in Chicago, do you?  Lots of love and prayers are being sent your way.

Hi,
I am sorry about the new lesion on your liver.  The liver biopsy is little uncomfortable but shouldn't be painful as long as they give you enough of the "happy juice". I am assuming they will do a fine needle biopsy. You will feel pressure and if the lesion is high up on your liver then you may find it difficult to take a deep breath but you shouldn't feel much pain. You will be awake for the procedure...they sometimes need to talk to you. Well that was what I experienced when I had my liver biopsy. Just make sure they give enough of the " Happy Juice". I am glad your doctor is optimistic about you getiing into remission. I know they won't decide on your chemo regime until they decide if cancer is GI or Gyn....so keep positive and maybe now they will get you on the right treatments. I will keep in my prayers. Love Julie

I am back from the onc office.  The good news is that I had no trouble with her.  She is on top of what we will start doing and I did not even have to fight her in any way.  Okay. That is the end of the good news.  Bad news is CT showed a new lesion in the liver.  I had never had anything show up there before.  It said 3cm x 2.5cm I think.  In the midst of everything I forgot to get a copy of the report.  I will do that next week when I go for the PET she ordered.  As for the pathology they are unsure here if this is GI or gyn in origin.  They are sending all of my slides out to the tumor board at the University of Chicago. There I will see their gyn/onc Dr. Fleming.  I also have to have a liver biopsy but they are calling to schedule that.  She said she is aiming for remission for me and when I asked if I could die soon she said no.  I realize there is no way to know for sure, but I am glad she seemed pretty positive they will be able to do surgery and then chemo and buy me some more time.  Funny thing is I was not at all worried they would find anything in my liver.  I had only concerns about the colon and stomach area.  Ya never know with this disease.  It is always ready to side-swipe us, that is for sure.  Thank you all for thinking of me.  I would be a mess without all of you.  Love, Marie

I was so busy yesterday I couln't check in.  Today is the day I see my onc about the ct results that followed the colonoscopy.  I have no idea what she will suggest for treatment, but I am going armed with info on what I think my treatment should be.  I hope she will be cooperative.  I just don't want to travel for treatment if I don't have to.  I have so much going on here at home I can't imagine being away.  Thanks for checking on me.  I will post after the appointment.  Love, Marie
