Mass seen on ultrasound-what should be next?

by amela321, Jul 04, 2009 12:31PM
I went to a GI doctor with the following symptoms:

abdominal pain
abdominal bloating--sometimes severe
frequent urination

The first test he ordered was a pelvic ultrasound.  I have the images, but do not yet have the report.  On the ultrasound, in my right ovary is a hypoechoic mass measuring 2 x 2 cm.

I was wondering what the next steps should be and what the likelihood is that this is something other than a simple cyst.

Any information you could give me would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Amy

Dear Amy
sorry about my delay.I must have missed this last month.

Basically I would recommend a repeat ultrasound in 3 months
best wishes

I'm sorry, I forgot to add that I had a hysterectomy 9 years ago and that I also have a history of thyroid cancer.

Thanks,

Amy
