The old saying is that an ultrasound is only as good as the ultrasound tech that is doing it. To prove or disprove the result then it should be done again and see that the results are reproducible.
She is right. My us found one growth on the right ovary. When my dr. did the lap, he found a dermoid on each ovary and they were softball sized. I would get a second us, maybe by a different tech and compare them.

Call ahead to your doctor's office to ask if your doctor does ultrasounds in the office. If so, then request that one be done at your visit. Most ob/gyns do ultrasounds in office these days, though mostly it seems for women who are pregnant. I myself had an ultrasound this morning. My doctor must be the best gyn in the state of Georgia. She turned the screen so that I could see it, and then she and I went step by step through the entire imaging of the cervix, uterus, ovary, fallopian tube, bladder, colon, and we discussed everything on the screen. The computer 'assistan't to the device allows a "cut and drag" that calculates the depth or size of tissues (such as cysts or tumors or polyps), so your doctor can tell you right then and there what your measurements are, and if they are in normal tolerance.
