Mucinous cystadenoma

What is a mucinous cystadenoma? Is it precancer or stage 1? Do they need to remove the ovary with this type of cyst?  My C125 is 45 a week after removing cyst and my period is due in 3 days.  My doctor says after effects of surgery can influence C125.  She said i must wait 6 weeks? Can this spread in 6 weeks? Im 31 years old

Its a burning and pressure type of feeling. It seems as though my period brings it on as it always starts about 3 days after my period ends. Its not a yeast infection as my pap smear is normal and there isnt any itching or discharge. I have maybe thought that its maybe interstitial cystitis ascI read that your period can make IC worse. Or endometriosis (I had very mild endo that was removed during surgery. Would CA stay elevated after removing a benign cyst?

It is hard to say what is causing the vaginal / bladder pressure especially since you had it before surgery. Is there any burning or just pressure? A number of benign conditions can cause an elevated CA125 which is why they say it cannot be used to diagnose ovarian cancer. A friend and I both had a mucinous cystadenoma. Her CA125 was over 1000 and mine was in the normal range (< 36).

Thanks for your reply.  I am glad to hear that it is benign. My dr said that it is a pre-cancerous cyst which has the potential to turn cancerous?  I am concerned because I have vaginal/bladder pressure that I had before the cystectomy and the pain is still here even after surgery. Unless its due to something else?  Another concern is that my CA 125 is 45! My doctor said it can be high after surgery (I took it a week and a half after my laparoscopy) and it was done 2 days before my period.

45 is nothing to worry about. Mine right now is 500. It would have to be much higher for concern. When I started with cancer it was 300.

This type of cyst is benign so you don't need to worry. I am glad to hear your surgeon removed just the cyst.
