Newly diagnosed

My Sister just had surgery to remove a tumor in her ovary. When they did the surgery the doctor told us that the tumor had spread to the pelvic area and they gave her a complete hystorectomy . The doctor said he got 99% of the cancer and she needs to start chemo within 3 weeks. They took her lymphs nodes.Would it be a good question to ask if they found cancer in the lymph nodes?

The pathology report will show if the lymph nodes were involved.  That would indicate the stage she is in.  Did they tell you what stage her cancer is?  I wish her the best. Marie

I'm so sorry for the news you have received. Your lymph node question is a very good question, that will be answered, as Marie said, when the pathology report comes back. It is a great idea to write down your questions, as they come to mind, to help you to remember when you go to the doctor with your sister. speaking of yur sister; how is she coping? It sounds, to me, like she has a wonderful supporter in you! she is really going to NEED YOU in many ways, now. Remember, we are all here to help and encourage, and, of course, answer questions and give information, when ever you, both, need. I will be thinking of and praying for your sister and you.
