Normal recovery following cone biopsy & endocervical curettage....

I don't have ovarian (to my knowledge), but do have cervical cancer. (adenocarcinoma)  My oncologist performed a cone biopsy 6 days ago.  I'd call the office with my question, but feel a little foolish & don't want them to think I'm one who over-reacts.  My question is this.... is it common to begin bleeding 5 days post surgery?  I expected I'd bleed after, but didn't.  I spotted a bit for the 1st 5 1/2 days.  Then my soreness increased a bit & I began bleeding, like a fairly heavy period.  On the 6th day, I think the packing may have passed.  It's now later in the day on day 6 & still bleeding.  Not too excessively.
I'm just not sure if this is the way it usually goes, or if my activity level is too much, or... ?
Any input would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Dear Christen,
i agree with your doctor! No question is silly. Bleeding is the most common side effect and complication of a cone biopsy. it is important to not do any heavy activity for usually 2 weeks after the surgery. Addi tonally I recommend not putting anything in the vaginal (tampons, sex) for 4 to 6 weeks after the procedure to allow for complete healing.

best wishes to you

My family & friends finally convinced me to call the Dr...so I did.  Turns out, the bleeding I was experiencing was not normal & I had to have an emergency visit to the Dr.  Thankfully, the internal sutures were still intact, but where they were rubbing had become raw.  She had to put some solution in to stop the bleeding & gave me instructions for very minimal activity.  The pain involved was fairly significant considering the surgery was only about a week prior, so..back to the Darvocet for the night!  But, at least the problem was addressed & recitified.
I wanted to share my outcome with all of you in case there are others out there who fear asking questions, or that you're bothering the Dr, or that you're over-reacting to something, or.....  My Dr told me to call her if I have ANY questions or concerns.  No questions are silly & I should never fear that I'm over-reacting.  My situation would have kept getting worse if I hadn't called.
Good Health to All of You!
