Number of treatments

I have been diagnosed with stage Ic, grade 2 endometrioid ovarian cancer.  My surgery was performed by a gyn-onco.  He told me that I will be receiving 3 taxol-carbo treatments.  I thought 6 treatments was the standard, and I questioned him on this.  He then told me that 3 is the new standard.  Is this true?  Under what circumstances would just 3 treatments be given, and under what circumstances would the number of treatments be 6 (or more)?
