OvaSure

Since one of the markers OvaSure tests is CA 125, why wouldn't it be useful for checking for recurrence?

The protein markers used in OvaSure are only there if the patient has ovaries, so OvaSure isn't useful for anyone with ovarian cancer whose ovaries have been removed.

One of the ovarian cancer patients at Ovarian Cancer Alliance has used OvaSure to rule out recurrence after chemo. She was negative, so it's safe to assume that the markers in OvaSure dan't necessarily stay elevated after treatment.

The way I understand it: ovasure tests 6 markers, one being ca125, unsure as to the others but perhaps those of use once dx'd with ovca always present positive on those markers. Perhaps similair to Lyme disease markers which even if  cured of that disease one always presents positive. Don't quote me on this..Withe
