Ovarian Cancer

My sister recently had a large cyst and ovary removed.  3 months later her stomach has grown and grown and it looks as if she is 9 months pregnant.  She was advised today by the local GP that he needed to do cancer tests as the results were cancerous.  It does not make sense.  My mother & brother died of cancer and little brother has prostrate cancer.  She also has this huge lump that appears on the side of her neck just below her ear when she eats causing a lot of pain and remains for a few days.

Try to be positive and stay at her side through this difficult time. I agree with Susie, it's great that she has an aggressive doc who wants to rule out cancer by tests. There really are not any specific tests to take to diagnose cancer without an actual biopsy. Make sure she has a CA-125 test, transvaginal ultrasound and a possible CT scan. I will keep her and your family in my prayers. With love, Deandra

I'm glad that your sister has an aggressive doctor; some doctors don't take their patients seriously, and we go without tests which we need.  I'm encouraged that your sister will be able to have tests so that the docs can learn all they can about her condition and figure out how best to help her.
Please keep us informed about how she is doing.  Best of luck to her!
