Ovarian Cyst - Getting into the doctor

by Nina221, Mar 17, 2003 12:00AM
I had an dermoid cyst removed along with my left ovary when I was 19 years old.  I'm now 25 and just started to have irregular periods (I'm on the pill), with breakthrough bleeding, terrible acne, and no libido what-so-ever.  I have a very dull ache in my lower abdomen.  I've called to see a new OB/GYN but can't get in for another 7 weeks.  I am so worried that I have another cyst and it will effect my ability to have children someday.  It's starting to turn into a psychological emergency verses a physical emergency.  Any suggestions?

Hi there
Just to ease your mind, I have had 23 cysts removed from both my ovaries in a 3 year period. I had to have my left ovary and tube removed from the scarr tissue and one of the cysts blew out the ovary. Two years after I had my ovary removed, and I was 34 at the time, I got pregnant. I have a healthy, normal little five yr old brat. Don't worry! The cysts will not cause you to NOT to get pregnant. It also sounds like you do have another cyst, which would mean your birth control pills probably have to be switched. Although in my own opinion, the birth control pills cause cysts because they suppress ovaluation. If I were you, I would try another form of birth control. Good luck and don't worry.

hi there, i have been constantly looking at this site and now am on the brink of despair that i am needing some help from other cyst victims! wot a lottery this game is, i am 23, had a complex mucinous cystadenoma with right ovary removed after suddenly collapsing with pain when i was 19. I was advised to take the pill but the depression it causes always outweighs the perceived 'need' to to be on it. Everything was stable until last year when a cyst was discovered on my left ovary, which i had removed last nov. At this point 3months since that op i have pain in same area agen and an ultrasound has confirmed my suspicions, have another cyst. The gynae i see is very blaze about my situation & encourages me 2 stick with the pill but is this my only option 2 prevent it growing any bigger. So far yasmin has made me psychotic (smashing cups etc) and the current loestrin has made me go into a black hole of depression. Does anybody have any advise on what i can do to keep this ovary. Is it likely with my depression that all pills are likely to have this effect on me.....kind regards to all of you ..jane
