Ovarian Cyst

I had an ovarian cyst discovered about 3 months ago.  They did an ultrasound and a transvaginal ultrasound and the results came out "negative".  My question is, I am still having pain in that area and it hurts when I press down on it.  I am back on BC to see if it decreases, but I was just wondering if I should be concerned about the pain I am still having.

I just read both of your postings, and I'm sure the question I'm going to ask is one a few others are wondering also - does ovarian cancer cause pain?  Maryboo, you say that you had pain in your side that turned out to be a tumor, but this goes against everything we've all been told - that ovarian cancer has no symptoms, which is why it's called the silent killer.  But yet, you felt pain.  You could be helping alot of us here if you can tell us a little more of what you were going through.  is it possible that this disease does indeed make itself known and we just don't know it?

Hi shana and everyone,Yes while the symptoms are often not acute or intense, they are NOT silent;they WHISPER,so listen. My case like most go like this, misdx.First a miscarrage (miscarriage),then a gallbladder removed, still nausea, then ercp gave me pancreatic.I finally said I'am going to be nausea, off and on.My right side ,like were my ovary is ,I thought it was ovulation, this was getting worse them my periods. This all started in Nov.2000.One night in Oct .2001, I was kept up all night by cramps.I said I'am going to the walk in clinic,I also started to have to pee urgency like. Not like me at all I could hold it for hours,so a PA did a urin test it was -.He said lets do a ultrasound, will my right ovary was 5 times bigger then it should be!He said go to my OB/GYN now.I called he said no way 35,3 babys, breastfeed them all for a total of 6 years! No family history.I get so upset when I see those commercials about med. for  bladder control and so no.So the best advise is listen to your body, if something changes know it.I hope you also know a yearly pap does not detect this!Be well ,live in the moment,Love Mary

Thanks Mary.  So, you had constant symptoms from Nov.2000 to Oct. 2001?  Did they come and go or were they pretty much there all the time?  Reading Gilda's book, she pretty much was unwell the entire time, just kept getting 'new' symptoms to add to the ones she already had.
Also, I'm confused about your comment on bladders - why would commercials about bladder control upset you?

Hi Shana,The TV is very powerful ,like I said the symptoms are vague bladder control, gastrointestinal upsets, gas,They advertisements a pill for all of these!Sometime a pill is not in order.I guess sometimes I need to get upset,at something and this is one of them.Take Care,Mary

I have a 5cm cyst on my right ovary.  Will have the follow-up ultrasound on Monday 12-23.  My gyn did a CA125 test, so I guess I'll see what's going on Monday.  I take estrogen/testas. combo everyday and I wonder if HRT can contribute the risk of ovarian cancer the same way as natural hormones do.  Any comments or experiences?

Maryboo---Wow...I am having similar problems.  Gallbladder removed in April 2002...now have almost constant pain/nausea in my stomach, right side and area where my ovary is.  I am going to my gastroenterologist the day after Christmas and I could not get in to see my gynecologist until January 9th.  I am scared because of all the pain, that it will be cancer.  Wish me luck...I am 31, two kids.

I had a hysctomy 22years ago, and they left my right ovary in.  They left half of my ovary.  I am experiencing pain in lower abdomen on the right side.  Pain when I press in.  Also I am having pain in my pelvic and groin area.  There is nothing on this I can find.  I have had these symptoms for two weeks.  Thank you

Hey, I'm concerned because I have had weird and recurrent pains in my pelvic and abdominal area for a couple weeks now. The pain is like a pin price because it is very localized, but it is also quite sharp sometimes. I have also had bloating, gas, and diahrea off and on for the last few weeks, and also sometimes the pain is right above my crotch or in my very inner thigh, like where a lymph node would be. It freaks me out alot because my grandma had breast cancer and her mom had colon cancer. The pain is usually in the left side where my ovary would be but sometimes it switches to the right. I also had trouble controlling my pee a couple times a while back. This is really weird and it fits with what you guys are saying. Should I try and get some testing done?
