I recently had an ultrasound done, and found that I have a 1.9 x 1.4 x 1.5 cm complex cyst on my left ovary with hyperechoic foci. (My right ovary was removed 20 years ago.) My gyn did a CA 125 which was normalNormal saline flush, and now I am scheduled for a repeat ultrasound in 4 weeks. I have been having mild discomfort (cramp-like) in the area of my ovary for several months. Both of my grandmothers died of gynocologic (not breast) cancer in their late 40's, but my mom is fine. I am 44 with normalNormal saline flush periods (except severe cramping where my left ovary is). My questions are 1) what does hyperHyper-sal echoic foci mean? and 2) is there any real reason for concern?
