Ovarian Cyst

Hello - I am new here and looking for your opinion. I am 49 years old. and I have an ovarian cyst on my left ovary.  Had a Transbdominal and transvaginal.  Here is my report findings:   A unilocular cystic lesion is identified in left adnexa.  Measures 6.1 x 7.6 and 5.6 cm. Doppler studyd is within normal limits.   No free fluid in the pelvis.  Endometrial stripe is thick 1.0 cm.  Impression:  most likely a cystadenoma.  Also had an MRI:  findings are:  unilocular cystic lesion left adnexa measuring 6.1 x 5.8 and 7.1 cm.  No evidence of abnormal enhancement or nodularity of this cystic lesion.  right ovary withing nornal limits.  there is no lymphadenopathy.  There is trace pelvic ascites.  Impression:  possibility of a cystadenoma cannot be excluded.  All this was done at the end of June.  There is a slight difference between sonogram and MRI results in the size and pelvic ascites. I have no pain, no bloating or bleeding.  I am still getting normal periods.   Doctor said he cannot take it out laprascopically and did not want to wait a few months to see what is going on. I went for a second opion in August.  New doctor said she can take it out laprascopically and I am having a second sonogram today and we will review the results and see what the next step will be - my guess is probably surgery to remove. Hope it did not get any bigger in three months time. I am hoping that it shrunk.    i would like your opinion on this.  Thank you for your time.

thank you so much for your response.  Second sonogram showed no change from the first one 3 months ago - so decision was made to have it removed. will also remove a uterine polyp that I have.  Waiting for an appointment.  I am more anxious regarding the anestesia part and the breathing tube they need to put in.  I know I will be asleep when they insert the tube, but just the same, still a bit nervous.   Thanks again for your time.

Hi there,
it sounds like you have a benign cyst ( a fluid collection with a thin skin around it) - think of it like a big water balloon. makes sense to remove it before it twists and causes pain. I agree with your second opinion. Something simple like that usually can be drained and removed by laparoscopy
best wishes
