Most ovarian cysts, even complex ones, are benign. They can remove them without also removing the ovary. It seems the sooner the better. It must come out sometime, and that's a fact from everything I've read. Talk to your doctor, then talk to a second doctor.
Did you end up having to get the cyst removed ? I have a 7.5cm complex cyst on my left ovary. Scared to death that this surgery will affect future pregnancies. Any suggestions or recommendations ?
Cysts can be large and be benign. It is large enough that it will probably need to be removed. Your doctor should order tests and explain if it is fluid, solid or complex. The CA-125 test is a blood test that can also be a helpful tool if it ends up being malignant. If your dr. suspects ovarian cancer due to a complex or solid cyst on test results....you need to be referred to a gynecologic oncologist. They are trained to provide the most thorough surgeries including complete staging if it is cancer. Having a gyno/onc perform the surgery can often make a difference in treatment and prognosis versus a regular gyn.
