Wow. I can't believe she isn't following up with you, especially with your pain. I the link below it says the standard treatment for ovarian remnant syndrome is to remove the remaining tissue:
http://www.endometriosistreatment.org/html/ovarian%20remnant%20syndrome.html
You should be having surgery to remove that mass. I don't think you should wait all the way to November with your dr. He isn't a specialist and you will be waiting again after seeing him. You need to call back and tell them about your pain and insist you can't wait for follow-up. Also, you need copy of your MRI. If it were to be a malignancy of any type, waiting until November is too risky! I hope you find some answers.
Thanks for the response.
I am concerned about a diagnoses of an ovary fragment, along with pain, as being "normal". She verified that both ovarys were removed in 1994, and reviewed the U/S and MRI reporting a mass that corresponds to my left ovary. She (my Gny is a lady) had her nurse call me, after her review of hospital records, to tell me that everything is normal.
There is no surgery scheduled, no other tests, not even a follow-up visit.
I am just left wondering. I see my family doctor in November, I guess l'll take up my concerns with him. I wish doctors would take two minutes of there time to explain why/how they have come to a diagnoses.
Good questions and I wish I had answers for you. I would ask the doctor why he is so sure and make clear that you are concerned. If I were you, I would seek a second opinion prior ot surgery. After fifteen years out from your hysterectomy, I wouldn't be comfortable just brushing it off as ovarian remnant syndrome. I don't know much about tha syndrome though. Primary peritoneal cancer which is basically ovarian cancer when the ovaries aren't there is one thing you will want to rule out. I would do some research on that and ask to see a gynecological oncologist prior to surgery. If it were to be primary peritoneal cancer, you HAVE to have a gyn/onc for propery debulking during your surgery. I am sure there is more info on that on web. I wish I knew more but it does sound weird to me. Let us know how it goes.
