Ovarian Surgery Surprise

Hi Ladies,

Have I got a story for you.  I just had surgery on Wed the 21'st.
I was going in for the removal of my right ovary due to a complex cyst and a possible hysterectomy if the doc found anything malignant.  Well he went in and what he found sure did confuse him a little.  My appendix had somehow attached itself to my right ovary and part of the fatty part of the appendix started to grow on the ovary.  I had been in the hospital just before thanksgiving last year for 4 days.  I had gone to the emergency room whit severe abdominal pain (felt like I was ovulating but I had just got my period and the pain did not go away like when I ovulate.) Well they watched me for 4 days and the pain went away the fever also went away and my blood count droped down to normal.  I have been living with a low grade appendicitis for 3 months and I never knew it.  I wasn't sure I should have the surgery because the pain I was having was extremely minor.  If it wasn't for the fact that there was a possible chance of ovarian cancer I might of opted to not have the surgery at all.  Thank God I did, if that thing had burst in me I could have died.  My Doc is my hero right now.  Even though he couldn't tell for sure what it was on ultrasound he advised me to go for surgery.  I'm 100% glad I did.  I kept all my reproductive parts and hopefully will be back to normal soon.  I wonder if any of you may have a similar experience. And those of you who are afraid of surgery, don't be they never know what's in there until they look, so just go for it, no regrets.

Liz

hi
yes mine was similar.I had simple cysts on both ovaries but extreeme constant pain on left side.Kept being told it was not an ovarian issue. When they got in there they found the left ovary and the actual cyst was glued to bowel and bladder.Ended up in theatre for over 3 1/2 hours. They addmitted afterwards that all the pain was comming from the ovary and the cyst and that the cyst would not have gone away on its own.Glad you mamaged to keep all your bits in tact.Hope your recovery goes well.Dawn
