There is no screening for Ovarian Cancer.  There are tests such as a Transvaginal Sonogram, CT Scan, MRI that will look at the ovary to see if there are any cysts or masses on the ovaries, tubes, etc.  There is also a blood test called a CA125 that measures a certain protein found in OvCa, Colon Cancer and can also be false postive and/or negative for a variety of reasons.  All of these tests used together may alert a doctor to a serious issue.  If they suspect cancer, then it is usally a hysterectomy and during the surgery they will send a tissue sample for immediate pathology and then the rest is sent and studied a bit closer.
I am sure that they can laproscopically also biopsy a mass, cyst, etc.
I had a full blown oopherectomy/salpingo for my first surgery with a recovery time of 6 weeks and the second surgery which was a hysterectomy was also a 6 week recovery.
