Ovarian cyst and endometritis

Good morning ladies!!!  I have been reading your posts for awhile now and have a question I hope you can help me with. My gyno has been following a small complex cyst with solid components on my right ovary since January 06.  It will not go away and she has suggested that I have a Laparotomy.  I think at this point I will have her schedule the surgery.  All of my tests have come back negative for cancer. (CA-125, CEA, and my uterine biopsy) My question is that recently I have been diagnosed with Endometritis.  I took the antibiotics and it seems to be better.  When I asked if it was related to the cyst my doctor couldn't tell me yes or no. She really didn't tell me at all how I could have contacted it.  Has any one else ever experienced Endometritis with a cyst??  Thank you in advance for your help!!
Theresa

I had a laparotomy last Thursday to remove a 5 cm cyst with solid and fluid components. Turned out to be an endometrioma. My doctor was pretty schocked....I have a history of simple cysts and out of nowhere comes this endometriosis. But I have a mild case, am going on Lupron in a few weeks, and will be on it for 6 months.

EndometrITIS is not endometriOSIS. It is a infection of the endometrium, which is why you took antibiotics to clear it up. antibiotics do not work for endometriosis.

Endometritis is cause by previous birth or IUD, or by infection (certain ones including clymidia and BV) and a few other factors.

You can go to emedicine and search endometritis to read more. It should not have a lasting affect on you. Good luck!!!!!

I had severe endo, fibroids, and now it appears that a have multiple cysts that come and go (to be confirmed in a few weeks).
I had a partial hysterectomy because of the endo. There is still endo present, but for now I have no symptoms (knock wood).

I am not shocked by anything my gyno says or doesn't say anymore!!  Now all I have to do is wait for my surgery date.
Thank you so much Anna!

Hi Anna,
I'm sorry!!  Used the wrong terminology, its a laparoscopy.  I knew I was going to get that wrong!!  Thank you for letting me know that it is common to get endo when you have a cyst.  I don't know why my gyno couldn't have just said that.

Lots of people have endo with cysts. In fact its not unusual to discover endo during the surgery to remove a cyst and sometimes explains an elevated ca 125. What I find interesting though is that you are having a laparotomy. How big is the cyst and what else have they told you about it? Has a laparoscopy been discussed?
