Ovarian cyst in post-menopausal woman

From what I have read so far, my case is a bit unorthodox...
I am a 52 year old woman who hasn't menstruated in the past two years and 1 1/2 years ago my FSH at 39.5 indicated that I was in menopause. Ten days ago I felt pre-menstrual bloating, tender, swollen breasts and began bleeding vaginally. The flow was consistent with a light period. An FSH done at that time indicated that I was peri-menopausal at 20.1. Thyroid levels are normal and a CA-125 less than 5.0. Transvaginal ultrasound indicated a 36X34X40mm simple left ovarian cyst. The right ovary was difficult to image but measured at 21X19X23mm and deemed grossly unremarkable. There were clearly uterine fibroids, one with an area of cystic degeneration.There is a 3 cm pedunculated uterine bibroid from the left posterior uterine margin with dropout (indicating uterine calcification), which makes imaging more difficult at the site of junction with the uterus. The endometrium is not thickened and measures 2-3 mm in diameter. Clinically, I feel pressure and bloating in the lower left quadrant and in retrospect, may have had some changes in my urinary/bowel habits, though it is difficult to be objective in my assessment. My question is whether it is possible that this was truly a period and I am not in menopause after not having a period for two years and earlier blood test indicating menopause. Obviously, an ovarian cyst and endometrial bleeding have vastly different consequences dependent on a patient's status. Is it possible to have a functional ovarian cyst in a post-menopausal woman? If so, what are the implications?
