Hi everyone! I had my right ovary removed almost 2 years ago because of a 16 cm cyst. I haven't had any problems with my periods until this month. My left ovary took over and everything was good. However, I have just missed my first period this month. I have never missed a period except during pregnancy. I am 42 years of age so I'm not sure if this is a sign of things to come or just a time when my left ovary did not do what it was supposed to do. Everything should go well with your surgery and your periods should be normal.
Hi Connie, I to am 35, and I want to tell you not to worry, I had my right ovary removed a year ago, and it does take time for the remaining ovary to take control, but trust me it does, If you worry to much about it, and stress over it like I did , it will take longer, so please just let it happen, you will be as good as new, I promise!1 Good luck to you! I hope to hear how you are doing on this forum!!
hi i have surgrey in six days to have an cyst the size of an grape fruit removed from my left ovary but they said they will probley have to take the whole ovary. and im worried about after surgrey and how big the incisions are 1 under my belly button and 2 on each side above my hair line.
Welcome! Sometimes the remaining ovary will shut down for a bit due to the trauma of surgery, but it will kick in again and you should not have any problems. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Godspeed

I had one ovary removed at the age of 19. but I havn't had a period due to medcine soo im waiting for mine still. I had hot flashed a lot.
hello, I too had one ovary removed (at the time I was about 46 years old)..I noticed no changes whatsoever, seems the remaining ovary did the work of two.
Now that I am 51 and have no ovaries I feel the difference!
Good luck, I think you will do fine.
I'm 28 and had my ovary removed 6 weeks ago - my other ovary has taken over and I'm menstrating as normal. My Dr said some people will only have a period every two months. I've noticed no hormonal changes at all.
Hi again, at 35, I don't think you will notice anything different hormonally.
I am sure some other great women on this forum will come along and weigh in on your question too. By the way, welcome to the group!

Hi Linda,
I am only 35 and have always had regular periods. So I should hopefully not see/feel any different then pre-removal.
Thanks for you quick response.
Hi connie, I had my left ovary and tube removed in March. Do you mind me asking your age? I am 50 and in peri-menopause. I was skipping periods before the surgery. The remaining ovary will take over and if you were having regular periods before you will likely continue to have them. I have only had 1 period since my surgery, but that is how I was prior to it as well.
I've had some problems due to the surgery itself,(i.e. with pains at the incision sites) but have noticed nothing different hormonally.
Hope this helps and good luck~
