Ovary and tube adherent to each other?

Ovary and tube adherent to each other?

I'm sitting here reading the Pathology report -I know I'm cancer free - I had an ovarian tumor- doctor said  I was lucky.  As I continued to read the description it states that one ovary was removed, gave the measurements and the the measure of the fallopian tube on the one side.  "The other ovary and tube are adherent to each other as together .  the cut surface shows a small cyst.  I had my uterus out 23 years ago can this cause the tube and ovary to adhere?  sounds strange to me.  Just curious- just glad it's all out.  thanks for any help- this forum is the best!!!

Sure, you could have adhesions (scar tissue) from your previous surgery and this could cause things to stick together!

I think with scar tissue anything can stick together. My uterus was stuck to my abdomen.

It's a good thing my liver doctor was persistent with to go to athe doctor in NYC who did the surgery for my vaginal prolapse (common in those who have had a early hysterectomy) I went to a local hospital at first and had both types of ultrasounds.  I was told I didn't have any ovaries- News to me- Went to my PCP and she couldn't feel them and said I probably had them out when I had my hysterectomy when I was 30 IMPOSSIBLE since I've been going through menopause.  The pain in my left side never stopped. Making a long story short went to the doctor - he was going to do exploratory surgery to find out where the pain was coming from, and sent me for another transvaginal US.  This women said she thought she saw something  - the pain was unbearable! sure enough- My ovaries were there, so was the cyst and when I had surgery they found a tumor. the fallopian tube had adhered to the ovary.  PLEASE go to a teaching hospital don't stay local!!!!!  good luck and keep in touch

I've got one for you.  When I had MRI and CT, U/S etc. they found that both my ovaries had migrated towards my back and midline and fused together.  This is probably from adhesions from my hysterectomy.  Good thing I don't need them for anything any more.  I knew that this was something that happened in the last 15 years because U'S were normal for positon previous to that surgery.

I am already being looked after by a teaching hospitatl(actually 2 of them)  I was referred to a gyn-onc because of a growing complex cyst.  This was by the hospital I go to a clinic at while waiting for a liver transplant.  I am having surgery May 8 to remove the ovaries and cyst.  They put it off because it is risky to have surgery and anaestetic because of the liver.  I am not going to need a transplant, however, as long as I stay as stable as I am now.  Both of the surgeons are involved in teaching as well as surgery.  Surgery will be at Toronto General Hospital by two surgeons from Princess Margaret Hospital doing the surgery .  The hospitals are both part of the University hospital network and Univ of Toronto medical programs.  Can't get much better care than that. Thanks for your concern and I wish you luck and health.
You said you liver doctor sent you to a referral.  I assume that you have had some liver problems also.

I must have missed it- what is wrong with your liver - I have problems with mine. I have so many cysts in mine that there is no more room for them to grow.  I thought I was going to have half the left lobe taken out this year- so far aso good.  I also have Von Meyenburg Complex. How difficult is it to find a match. My father was my match but he died of a brain tumor three years ago. Pictures were taken during my laproscopic surgery - there were white spots on the liver and my liver doctor is going to meet with his staff.  I'm calling Monday. Please take care of yourself. Keep in touch Kathy
