i am braca 1 and i have read about the parp inhibitor added and in the us it is being successful for braca 1 or 2 mutations good luck
hello sherry
please do not try to worry there are so many trearments on the market and one will work for you, i do not recognise the chemo that you are on Gezmar? i live in the UK would there be another name for it here? my journey has been a long one, i was diagnosed in feb 2002 with stage 3C ovarian cancer i then had an opperation to take out what they could, not very sucsessfull because i bleed every time they touched me, so then i went on TAXOL/CARBOPLATIN combo for 8 sessions every three weeks, i went into partial remission for 8months then my tumor marker started to rise again so i then went on a chemo called TOPOTECAN this only held the tumors and it did not agree with me, i then went back on CARBOPLATIN on its own and i responded well to this that held for 6months i then went on another chemo called CAYLEX this worked really well it held for 10 months the longest yet, i then went back on TAXOL/CARBOPLATIN of which the doctors were very wary of doing because i had had so much chemo they thought i would not cope with it, i did find it very hard but it saved my life because by the time that iwas due to have this combo again the cancer had spread every where even into my liver.
in the mean time because i responded so well to CARBOPLATIN the doctors thought that i may have a genetic problem so the sent me to be tested , and yes iwas BRACA2 positive, my consultant decided to try me on this trial of which he was really excited about called KUDOS yes it is a pharp inhibitor and it works for me i have been on this for 20 months now and it has shrunk all my tumors the biggest is only 8mm it has gone out of my liver and i am in partial remission. there are hardly any side affects appart from feeling tired thats about it oh and my CA125 is 12 how remarkable is that.
shelly all i can say to you is try everything they offer you there will be one drug ouy there that will work for you.
if i can help you at any time please contact me by email which is nicole.***@****
keep your chin up

Dear Julie,
I would like to hear more about PARP. I also am BRCA2 positive and was diagnosed with ovarian/primary peritoneal cancer 2 1/2 years ago. I was in remission for 8 months. I am presently trying to find a chemo that works. ON my first round of Gemzar, my CA125 went down to 425, from 687. Are you still on PARP and are there any side effects, and what are they. I am changing hospitals in a few weeks and they have a PARP study going on, but the onco wants me to continue Gemzar as long as it is working,. He said that if this doesn't work he would put me on Taxol and PARP somewhere down the road. Please write me about your experience and opinion about PARP and other chemos.
Thanks, Sherry
