PET Scan Results

My mom had another scan done...the CT scan showed something so the docs ordered a PET scan.

The doc said overall its a very good report. Where the omentum used to be there was a smidge of a spot left. Also one of her nodes showed something - however the doc said it isnt necessarily cancer....it COULD be but it also could be just an inflamed lymph node. They also found something bigger in the colon/rectum area - but the doctor said its probably an inflamation of some sort and my mom told her she has hemorrhoids so the doc thinks its probably that.

The doc said this report is something to be very happy about because a lot of women get these scans and they find spots all over the place. She said no more chemo for the time being and they will monitor my mom frequently.

The doctor also said she will never be cured and that the goal is to keep the cancer under control.

This is all new to me and I am wondering if this all sounds right to the rest of you. Her last CA-125 was 16.

I have her report here so for each "spot"  I can tell you what the numbers were on the PET scan if it makes sense to anyone.

Thanks.

I think we are feeling better about it now.  At first we didnt know if this was a good report or not.  The doctor seemed convinced that this is all good news.  They will indeed keep a close eye on her going forward.

For a 75 year old, my mom so far is putting up a great fight.  Thanks for listening.

I think this is as good as it can get.  Certainly they seem to have everything under control.  Just one spot is excellent because the doc is right, sometimes it shows as a 'shotgun' effect which must be very difficult to treat.  To have it so localised is great news.  To top it all, a low CA125 and no more chemo - wonderful!

I would be pleased for your mum if I were you.  Is she pleased with the results?  Be assured that the doctors will still keep a close eye on her.

Best wishes to you both.
