PETSCAN FINDINGS OVARIAN TUMOR

hello just recieved a copy of my petscan results this is how its read.
findings :  in the right axilla there is a mildy enlarge lymp node which shows intense hypermetabolic activity with maximum SUV of greater than 3.6.  This is consistant with a metastatic lymph node.

In the pelvic there is an intense focus of activiity in the right adnexa with maximum SUV of around 4.6 there is a sof tissue fullness in this area and ovarian tumor is suspected.  recommend correlation with a pelvic ultrasound exam.  This may be unrelated to the axillary node.  there is some nonspecific bony acticity in the spine.

I am sorry to hear about your scan.  I don't know your situation - have you had cancer before?  Your scan sounds like ovarian cancer but you won't know for sure until it is removed.  The most important thing is that you see a gynecologic oncologist to perform your surgery.  I hope you are already seeing one and that is the reason you got a PET scan.  If you aren't, here is a link to help you locate one and it also lists reasons why it is important to have one:

You may want to fill out some info. in your profile so others know a little about your situation - it makes it easier to answer posts.   It is scary to have a scan and realize something is wrong.  Please let us know any questions you have and when you will be having surgery.   Hang in there!     Shelly
