Standard practice, as documented, for ovarian cyst is: any size complex cyst gets removed and diagnosed for abnormal cells.
For a simple cyst, anything larger than 5 to 6 cm, that causes pain, or continues to grow usually gets removed.
What the heck is going on with your doc? a 22 mm cyst that causes pain and other symptoms and no act twards removing it?
I would say, if it were me, I'd be getting to a new doc right about now. Try to find a female who'd be more likely to understand the discomfort and worry that you are suffering.
Most of those symptoms could be the cyst. It sounds as if you might have a functional cyst on the other side...maybe that's why the pain comes around every 6 weeks or so. Better to get another ultrasound as you are changing docs.
You need to take care of yourself. Most complex cysts are benign, but there is an increased risk of abnormal cells. Please get it taken care of.
