Pain after each radiation therapy treatment

Pain after each radiation therapy treatment

Hi Girls, I have just started radiation therapy for recurrence of ovarian cancer on my sacral ligaments. Straight away I felt back pain, like a sore period pain. I expect to feel some processing but I wasn't expecting pain. Has anybody else required pain killers to cope with the radiation symptoms afterwards?
It is possible that it is the tumour causing the pain, but it started being more constant after the radiation treatment. I won't know how the tumour is progressing until Tuesday when I see the radiation oncologist for my PET scan results.
Don't mean to moan. It is heaps better than chemo. I realise pain is part of our journey, but I don't want to be taking lots of pain killers at this stage. Replies would be greatly appreciated. Sue.

Im sorry, I havent had any radiation therapy to tell you my experience however If you would rather not take loads of pain killers can i make other suggestions?  Mind you..this is what i hear...I heard meditation actually really works. If you have the means may i suggest a hypotherapist? I heard they teach people, especially with painful diseases how to hypontise themselves during very painful situations (there was a kid when i went to school who was allowed to go to the principles office at any time to hypotise himself when his pain from his disease became to unbearable). I hear it works great. There is something else...there is a book out called Crazy Sexy Cancer...now she had a really rare cancer that wasnt ovarian cancer but she does all this organic stuff and all these ways to manage her pain. Even if you dont get that out of it, its greatly inspiring reading material. She also made the book into a documentary that if you dont feel up to reading but just staring at something lol. I watched the documentary and even though i wasnt in her shoes she had amazing different things that she did to overcome pain and eat more healthily. Im sorry i dont have anything to really help you with. My thoughts and prayers are with you!!!
