Part of an Ovary

I have only a part of an ovary due to a large ovarian cyst which was fine.  Yet they removed that ovary completely since the cyst was 9lbs and took over the ovary.
I was developing a cyst on my other ovary which they removed with part of my ovary and that was 2 pounds.  This happened when I was 19 in 1995.  I am now 30 and am experiencing a period on its 15th day.  I was once told i'd have a cycle every other month. But I have had normal cycles like clock work every month three children, my youngest being almost 4.  Is this long bleeding a result of my partial ovary.  What can be some side effects as I get older having only a PART of an ovary.. Thanks

MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL
Hi There,
Ovarian function is controlled, in part, by the brain. The brain receives information through the blood stream about how much estrogen or progesterone is circulating. The brain sends a hormone message to the ovary to either make more or less. It does not matter how much ovarian tissue a person has to produce the right amount of hormones. You should experience the same changes and transitions that other women experience based on age
best wishes
