Pazopanib from GSK may beat out Avastin (shows activity in Ovarian Cancer)

by alanpvegas, Jun 03, 2007 12:00AM
Just saw this press release...the clinical trials are looking good and the talk/buzz is it will be a big competitor to Avastin.  It is another angiogenesis inhibitor like Avastin.  If anyone recalls, Avastin stopped their Phase II clinical trials with Avastin for Ovarian Cancer due to GI perforations.

PDF fact sheet from GSK:  http://www.gsk.com/media/press-kits/pazopanib-fact-sheet-1jun2007.pdf

This is the only clinical trial info I can find for it (although there may be more upcoming): http://clinicaltrials.gov/ct/show/NCT00281632?order=17

Good info, Alan. Maybe this will also bring down the price of Avastin.

Yes hopefully.  Did you hear that one of Avastin's trials showed you actually didn't need the full dose, but a lower dose?  That didn't help their stock much but it was refreshing to hear a pharm company say something like that!
