Pelvic Fluid on CT Scan?

Pelvic Fluid on CT Scan?

Since my last chemo 3/30/06 I had 3 CT scans, one every 6 months. All were "unremarkable", everything clear. The first two (April and September 2006) also said "no fluid in pelvic area".

The recent scan from this week is all clear as well, but this time it says "tiny amount of fluid in pelvic peritoneal area - unchanged from previous exam".

I will discuss this with my oncologist next week but in the meantime my brain is spinning.

Can some fluid be normal for some women?
What causes fluid other than cancer or liver disease?
Is this a sign that the cancer will return for sure?
Is this a sign that the cancer is there already - lurking?

Two different doctors reviewed the photos; one mentioned it, one did not. Possibly because the amount is so small and thus irrelevant?

CA-125 has been consistently between 9-14 since early in the chemo treatment.

I had over one liter of cancerous fluid drained during surgery 11/05. My biggest fear is that it will come back that way, and bathe all the organs in my body in cancerous fluid!

I would love to hear from anyone who also had fluid on the scans and how that affected their prognosis.

Thanks!

Milashka, I can't answer all your questions, but I can answer one. I have had quite a lot of fluid. The fluid is in sacs and is not able to get to your organs unless they spring a leak someway. I think I read that a small amount of fluid is normal. You can enter ascites on the search box and find out quite a lot. I think your CA125 scores are wonderful. Good luck, TG
