Pelvic/sacram mass

Pelvic/sacram mass

In preliminary stage of pelvic mass discovery. Am 48, no kids, had tumor arising from cecum with diagnosis of retroperitoneal neurogenic tumor with low grade cancer when I was 12. No chemo or radiation. Been healthy ever since. Had ultrasound in 9/09 diagnosed with fibroids, one rather large at 10 cm but have opted for alternative health. No symptoms. Had another ultrasound done 3/2010, new radiologist, identifies suspicious pelvis mass. Does not believe its fibroid and now neither does gyn/oncology doctor who I saw last week. Her first impression after 10 minute physical exam that its a mass on sacram. Doesn't want to do bioposy for fear of spreading if it is cancerous. Suggests surgery but is honest about possibility of colostomy bags (yikes) Says its in an unusual place sitting very far back in pelvic cavity. going for MRI to determine if its a mass in or out of the female organ sphere. Feeling like she just wants to rush surgery and I of course want second opinions, with options, and I mean lots of options, including alternative medicine. I guess my question is...what do you think?. What can I do that is the least evasive? Any course of action which you may see better/ Thanks for your help. Like everyone else, kind of on information overload

Hi There,
You are getting a good evaluation.
MRI will be very helpful to see if the mass is related to you uterus or separate.
I am intrigued that you have previously had a tumor in the cecum.
If you have not had a recent colonoscopy, I would recommend that.

Ultimately, I agree with your doctor. You have an abnormal growth. It could be malignant and should be removed.
I do not think there is a reasonable alternative.
