Persistant ascites after 5 rounds of cisplatin chemo??? What is going on?

by LILLIAN577, Nov 10, 2009 08:14PM
What is going on .... My mom has undergone 5 rounds of chemo and saw her surgeon/gyn onco  at moffit yesturday. I love to see him for a consult every now and then. He said her belly swelling is ascites. About 3-4 lbs probably. He wants her oncologist to add taxol to her treatment. Im so concerned about the ascites. Anyone experience ascites that wont go away even with treatment of chemo!

Maybe they need the right chemo for the ascites.

I have no suggestions, no answers, just sending you hugs and bumping this up to the top.

Has she had Taxol yet?  If not, that is a good one for ascites.  It may take a little while, but It should help.
