Pneumonia

I know this is an unusual question but thought maybe someone would have some insight..Like most of you know I had my hysterectomy done in May 07 with complications that led me to be hospitilized for 3 weeks and home care for a month and a half and on a would vac. well I was very Vitamin deficient after the 3 surgeries..gallbladder,hyster and ruptured bowel. My question is since then I have STILL been tired. But in November I developed a cold which turned out to be pneumonia well i was on the antibiotics for 14 days..In December I went to the Dr and again I had pneumonia in the other lung. Again I was placed on 2 antibiotic treatments..My Docotor didnt like that I developed it 2 different times and is having me see a pulmonologist. Well I am concerned and was wondering if this could be from being weakend after so long? I see the Dr Thursday and was just wondering if anyoine had any feedback about this. Thanks :) Gia

I'm good, just really tired lately-must be getting old. But found your post interesting-I've had a bad cold, now coughing up phlem. But it's the tireness that I'm worried about. Just tired all day, next week if it's not gone I'll make an appointment to see Dr. Take Care :)

Gia, you had alot of health problems over the last several months, along with problems with healing and need for a bowel resection.  Your nutritional state, as far as protein is probably not as good as it should be.  We need protein to heal and to fight infections.  If you have lab values done, ask what your albumin level is, if it is low, around 3.3 then you need more.  Did you ever smoke? that also puts you at risk, even if you quit a number of years ago.  You are seeing a pulmonologist, which is a good thing, when this clears up, I bet they give you the pneumonia vaccine.  Good luck

Do yu have OC? or maybe misdiagnosed. I had fluid in one of my lung, took me forever to recover from a cold and had shortness of breath.  My OBGY kept telling me that my lung problem was not related to Gyno stuff. So I went to see a lung specialist to see if i have pneumonia or bronchitis or lung cancer.  Turned out to have pleural effusion in the one lung, had fluid drained and came back positive for OC.  Only advise I can give  you is that when you have x ray done, make sure you stand on your side with arms up as fluid tends to shift and standard pose may not always catch the fluid.
