Possible ovarian cancer?

Hi
This is my first post and I will be very grateful for any information you could provide.

Went to the gyno because of what I thought was a urinary tract infection. Turned out it wasn´t.

I am 49 years old. Had hysterectomy 10 years ago, only uterus removed, ovaries are still there.

I am "supposedly" postmenstraual since I started HRT 7 years ago due to hot flashes and urinary problems.

My doctor told me I have  2 "movable" masses the size of golfballs, bilateral, both ovaries are affected.

Also a lot of small cysts on left ovary.

No pelvic fluid detected on ultrasound.

CA-125 is 72.

The masses had a "snowstorm appearance" on ultrasound.

No knewn history of endometriosis, but I did always have very heavy periods.

Scheduled for laparascopy in a couple of weeks.

What are the prognosis?

Thank you for any input, I am very confused and of course scared and I am searching the internet like crazy.

At least find out if the doctor is a gyn/oncologist.  It's really very important to at least have one on call if needed.

I don't have any experience with lap surgery, so I hope someone else will come on with info for you.

Good luck and God bless ...

I think you might want to consult with a gyn/oncologist.  Whether the masses are benign or malignant, this is the specialist with years of extra training, therefore more experience and better results.

Did you mean to get information from a doctor?  If so, you need to go to the "expert" forum.  This one is for women and caregivers who have fought or are fighting ovarian cancer.  (We're always happy if women who come on discover they have benign conditions of course.)

Keep in touch ... Good luck and God bless

My hysterectomy was due to fibroids. I have no histpry of cancer and neither has my immediate family.

Hope I have provided all information.

Thank you very much for your time.

I had a transvaginal ultrasound.

My symptoms are urinary problems (feels like a infection), nausea and difficulty eating more than small portions of food. Also pain in ovaries, stomach and under ribcage.

Two weeks ago I was perfectly healthy, or so I thought...
