Post Laparotomy

Hi Ladies,
Hope you are all keeping well and positive. This message is in reply to Anna-Maria74, with regards to post laparotomy, but i'm sure it will help others also.
When my partner came to pick me up from the hospital, he brought the sedan because it was low slung so all I needed to do was to bend my knees a little and then slide in with the seat reclined a little bit. This was much easier than if he had brought the 4wd to pick me up in, because it would have been too hard with a midline incision to climb up into it. Also, have a towel to put over your tummy so the seat belt won't press into you and hurt your stomach. I wish you all the best with your surgery on the 3rd of July and also to Linda F on the 28th of this month,
Take care, yours in sisterhood,
Mariah X

Thanks for the heads up.  So many of the little things are forgotten.  It helps to have those that have been there lead the way.  Keep up the good work and I hope you are feeling better on the RS.

Both of our cars are easy to get into but I gave my husband special directions earlier this week.  When he comes to pick my up I asked him to bring a pillow and blanket.   It is 1 1/2hrs to 2 hrs. to get home from the hospital.  I figured I could prop myself up in the back seat.  The towel for under the seatbelt is a good point.  I'll pass that along to him as well.  Amazing the little things ( and big things) I pick up on here.

I used on of those kid's pillows with microbeads from Walmart to support my tummy after my midline incision. It also came in handy for the seatbelt on the 1 hour drive home. Used to keep my toy poodle off the belly too. When I was finished with the pillow the grandchildren inherited it.
