Pregnancy after Granulosa cell tumor?

I am 36 years old. I have had two surgery's because of a granulosa Cell tumor in one ovary, it was stage 2c. Everything has been removed, my doctor told me. But the chance of recurrence is big because of the stage 2c. I still have the right ovary and utures so it's possible to have children. But now my doctor says a pregnancy may have an influence on a recurrence , that the tumor will come back sooner because of that. I read about more cases of Granulosa CT after IVF  (1993) but other articles say it's because of the infertility those women got GCT. Not because of the IVF. Does any-one know anything about a negative influence of a pregancy on a recurrence of Granulosa Cell tumor?

I have GCT -- found out in 2004, had one ovary removed, after healing from my surgery, I was given the green light to get pregnant.  I got preganant Mar '05 was monitored closely during my pregnancy (no problems at all) and delivered a healthy boy Nov '05.  I have had two reoccurances and subsequent surgeries. My dr doesn't relate my reocurrances to my pregnancy.  I get scans quarterly and when there's anything suspious it gets removed.  I'm trying to conceive baby #2.

Thanks for your respond. My doctor thinks that because of the tumor being hormone receptive, there would be a reccurence sooner. But now they say it's ok to be pregnant and even get a IVI or IVF. But there isn't much information about a pregnancy and GCT. Most women are older when they are diagnosed with GCT. I have read a lot of articles about GCT, but there isn't any information about the influence of a pregnancy when you already have GCT.

When were you diagnosed? It has been a difficult dessicion for us, wanting to have children after having this disease. But I hope we will get a child and I will be able to see it grow up....

I was diagnosed with GCT 1c.  I haven't read anything on how pregnancy affects GCT recurrance but it could be that because GCT is a hormone receptive tumor the increase in hormones during pregnancy might encourage a recurrance.  Did your dr tell you why he thought that might happen?  It might be a good idea to ask him to refer you to any articles/studies on pregnancy's effect on GCT.  Best wishes, Chris
