Problems with chemo for stage IIIc

Hi.  I am new to posting on this site.  I have read over many of the questions that everyone posted here, and it seems like everyone is really nice, and gives such useful info.  Anyways, here is a little about my story.  My mom was dx with stage IIIc epithelial ovca a few months ago.  Her ca125 prior to surgery was almost 500.  They performed a total hysterectomy on her, and found that there was a lemon size tumor on her right ovary, tumor on her omentum, small bit of cancer on her bladder, and she also had some ascites.  The doc said he removed 99% of the cancer, and that he wanted to start her on IP chemo.  She has had 3 rounds of chemo so far, and is getting ready to start her 4th.  She has had a lot of problems with reflux. Today we got news that her kidney levels were elevated. They will run some tests today to see what the reason is.  Has this happened to any of you? I know chemo is VERY toxic. but I am SOO worried! She is on Taxol day one in the IV, cisplatin day two In the abdomen, then day 8 she is on taxol in the abdomen. This starts over every 21 days and considered one round. Her ca125 was down to 28 after two rounds of chemo. Does anyone know anything about this kindey problem? Also has anyone had really bad reflux?? Is anyone else doing IP chemo?Thanks so much.

I can tell you that IP therapy is one of the hardest things to go through according to my DR. there are gals on here who have had it.  I did not have any sort of kidney problems from the carbo/ taxol. So sorry for you having to go through all of this. I do know that Ip therapy is harsh but is effective and can add 1 +years if you can withstand it. Your Mom is a Warrior!!  Good Luck

Thanks kathy for responding.  I just wanted to let you know, her bloodwork for her kidneys came back in the normal range this time.  They said she needed more fluids.  We sure are thankful everything came back ok.  Thanks again!

when you are on chemo about the third through the fifth day nothing tastes good, not even water I have had to force myself to drink it. Oj was probably the easiest thing for me. I am glad tht her kidney funtion is back to normal.. popsicles, fruit bars good too..
