Prophylactic Ooperectomy

I am 44 years old.  My Mother is deceased from ovarian ca at age 50.  Three of my mother's five sisters have had breast cancer.  Two of these sisters are deceased. These six women had a total of 21 children, 7 are female. One cousin, whos mother didn't have ca survives after having bilateral masectomies (@age 35) due to breast ca. I have genetic testing and am negative for BCA1 and BCA2.  None of my family members have had the genetic testing.
  I take bcp on a continuous schedule and have ca125 and ultrasound every 6months. I have had one child and did nurse for about 6 months.  Two years ago, I had a persistantly enlarged ovary, after monitoring with no change, a desicion was made for me to have this ovary out.  Now, due to family history and my increasing age, my Dr is suggesting the removal of the other ovary and perhaps a partial hysterectomy .

What is the best course of action? Shall I have the ooperectomy at this time or wait ? Shall I also have the partial hysterectomy?  If I have the oopherectomy, what shall I expect about decreasing my risk to ovarian Ca?  How do women typically feel, that is, what real side effects should I expect, after an oopherectomy?
