Provera/Chest Pains/Muscle Aches

by Barb38, Apr 30, 2007 12:00AM
Hello again - I was taking Provera and had to stop due to chest pains.  Since I have stopped I'm having some other issues and would like suggestion on treatment.
4/22/07 - stopped Provera
4/24/07 - Became very irritable, like major PMS
4/25/07 - out of nowhere doubled over with cramps
4/26/07 - cramping got worse and pain started radiating through out my body, flu like body aches, but I'm not sick.
4/27/07 - had to miss work, brown discharge, cramps and aches extreme, doctor prescribed Tylenol 3
4/28/07 - cramping eased to a small roar, body aches subsided, still only brown discharge
4/29/07 - started bleeding heavy (1 tampon every hour) with clots, cramping still occurring
4/30/07 - still bleeding heavy with cramping

I have an appointment with my doctor, but would like to know the following:

Is it common to have such a painful and heavy period after stopping Provera?
What is causing the body aches?  Could that be from endometriosis?
I am going to request lap surgery.  Will that fix all of my problems?  Is there a permanent solution other than a hysterectomy?
Your help is greatly appreciated.

Hi Barb,
if you have had a D&C that showed normal tissue and no sign or cancer or precancer 9hyeprplasia, you may be a candidate to have an endometrial ablation.

if you have large fibroids, another option is to consider surgery to remove the uterus.

i do not know how the body aches are related. You should see your doctor for a good exam to make sure that your do not have an infection
best wishes to you
