Question of the group

I am a 30 year old female and recently had an ultrasound done on a cyst found on an MRI.  I am confused by what the doctor told me.  Can anyone help me decifer this.  From what I have read on other websites, I am totally confused and scared it may be cancerous.

Findings: Uterus has normal echotexture and measures 9.89x4.61x5.80cm.  Myometruim has an unremarkable appearance.  Endometrialo strip measures 0.97cm.  Left ovary measures 3.73x1.57x1.72cm.  Physiological follicals are seen within the left ovary.  Hypoechoic lesion is noted within the left ovary measuring 0.98cm in greatest dimension.  Right ovary measures 4.92x4.88x5.19cm.  Anechoic lesion is seen within the right ovary measuring 3.36x3.97x2.09 cm.  This lesion has an internal septation and small area of nodularity.

Impression:  Left ovary with 0.98cm hypoechoic lesion are described and right ovary with 3.9 partially complex cyst.  Neither cyst is consistant with dermoid.

Should I be concerned?  To be honest, I am scared silly!!

It all sounds to me like things are within normal limits, the left ovary cyst probably should be rechecked in a month for any new growth.  Cysts are very comman , most are not removed surgically until they reach the 5 cm size.  You did not mention if you were having pain associated with this cyst. Cysts are formed monthly , and have a cycle of about 5 to 7 days.  98% of all cysts are benign.  OVCA is a rare disease also.  Please keep us posted, more ladies will be along and give you more assurance.

I am in lots of pain on a daily basis for the last month or so.  My doctor is sending me to see a GYN on the 4th.  The cyst on the right ovary with the nodules and seperation is what they are concerned with.  But thanks for the information.  I am just really concerned and scared.  Breast cancer and Ovarian cancer are very common in my family.

I also have a cyst on my right ovary its going to be removed next tuesday by surgery, I am also 30yrs old and I am also scared, the cyst I have is 4.5cm, I just hope the Dr. does not remove my ovary, I will keep you in my prayers

Thanks for your support.  I still have a week plus to go to see the doctor.  I hope your surgery turns out well.  It is also reassuring to know that I am not the only one going thru this situation right now.  Thanks again and I am waiting to hear how your surgery goes.
