Questions about Ovarian Cysts

Hi I have a few questions about ovarian cysts.
My bf and i have been trying to concieve for the past 6 mo.. and maybe 8 mo ago i started having light bleeding around ovulation - the dr said it was common so i thought nothing of it. However this month I got my period on 10/06 and had the ovulationb bleeding and like 5 days later i had other darker bleeding that lasted maybe 3 days and now just spotting still- i thought i was pregnant however i was sent for a pelivic and transvag non ob u/s. They said measurements- uterus 8.4 x 4.5 x 3.8 cm. Endometrial stripe 12mm. Right ovary 3.9x3.3x2.7cm and contains follicles ( largest measures 1.6x1.3 cm) Right ovary has a complex cyst that meausres 2.0 x1.9 cm and my left ovary is larger 5.6x2.5x2.1 cm and shows a complex cyst measuring 3.3x3.5x2.6cm.
Can you please shed some light on my situation. I have pain in lower pelvic area. Does this report sound like it could be ovarian cancer? I have no known family members with ovarian cancer. however cancer does run in my family. Brother- heart/skin and mom lung- parts of the chest.
If anyone knows anything about this please advise .

Thank you

Thank you so much for your advice. It was much needed. from what i've read if cyst are on both ovaries or larger than 4 cm they want to remove them. if that is what my dr wants to do. I will find a gyn oncologist. Thank you again!

A complex cyst is the only worrisome thing for ovarian cancer.  However, the majority of complex cysts turn out to be benign.  My dr. told me that they have a general rule of monitoring cysts under 5cm but remove those that are larger.  I wouldn't worry too much because the odds are with you that it isn't cancer but you should keep a close watch and work with your dr.  If you do end up needing surgical intervention you should see an gynecolgic oncologist.   This increases the chances you will get proper staging in one surgery and therefore more timely treatment.  Best wishes.
