Radiation

Hi, well I got the results of my pet/ct scan. There are no signs of cancer, just the same tumor on my vaginal cuff. It grew 1/2 inch since March. My onc. is suggesting radiation for this because that's all that showed up. Has anyone had radiation for ovarian cancer? I would be getting it every day. I don’t know for how long.
My husband and I had planned a trip out West. Leaving on July 11th and going for about 4-5 weeks before school starts. I don't know what to do, get the radiation now or wait until I come back. My Onc said don’t cancel my plans as of yet, to talk to the radiation Dr. Any input would be appreciated.

I had seven weeks of radiotherapy as part of my treatment for Ovarian cancer in 2007.

I had radiotherapy because my ovary was adhered to my bowel and they were using it as an extra insurance policy to get rid of any extra cells that were not killed by the chemotherapy.

I found radiation so much easier than chemotherapy, the most tiring thing I found was having to go to the hospital every day oh and of course the effects that radiation had on my bowel.

I would suggest that you take your doctors advice and see what the radiation oncologist says about whether it would be OK to delay treatment while you have your trip.
