Recovery after laparoscopy

I had a laparoscopy done on Wednesday. the one incision had to be made larger than usual due to the size of the hemmorrhagic cyst. It wasn't a mass after all! Anyway, I'm still in a great deal of pain especially during urination and standing from low positions. I had to stay an extra night at the hospital because of possible bleeding. It feels like when I urinate my bladder pushes against all of the cuts. I'm really sore, and I just wondered how long until I feel better from some people with experience. I also had a D&C done while I was already under anesthesia. Any comments, info, or advice would be greatly appreciated. tahnks.

I had a laproscopy done (twice in under a year for cysts) and I can tell you that the first recovery was harder and longer than the 2nd recovery. I too had alot of pressure when urinating the first time and getting out of bed for days after the surgery was rough.  I had trouble sitting right and or standing up - it passed after ooohhh, about a week and a half.  Then it was just uncomfortable but go better each day.  Just take it easy and do not push yourself.  Take care!!!

I thought that I would be feeling really good in a few days and zooming like normal. I'm still having a lot of pain in the middle and on the left all day and when I urinate especially. I need help getting out of bed, but I am able to get around a little easier today. I started taking the pain pills around the clock, so maybe that is helping too. Anyone have any advice on getting out the gas? I'm having a lot of pain in my shoulders and back and under my ribs. I walk and drink hot tea, but I really don't think it helps. I read that it should be gone in about 24 hours. I'm glad I didn't schedule myself back for work right away. There's no way.

Hi!!
I had my lap done on Monday .....stayed one night......I have 4 incisions......one umbilical, pubic, right and left side....
My left cyst after sonogram was a complex cyst,,,,,,,,when Dr. got in there I had endometrious.....then called the cyst a chocolate cyst....
My bad experience was the foley cath.....I bet the balloon was filled in my uterer.....not all the way in my bladder....When i was in recovery .....thats all i complain about.......when they got me to my room I told them again ......the nurse tried to fix it........and it was so bad... I demanded it out......finally they took it out ......told me i would have to get up and urinate.......that was better than the pain the foley was giving me......now the first couple of times I urinated it was terrible........but now its fine....
I am basically doing fine......I have done quite a bit......but I still have pain in my lower left side.....My husband told me that the Dr. said he scraped that area....because of the endometrious...
I am leaving for COlorado Christmas day......a 24 hour drive.....
So I hope I can handle it.....I hope it will get better for you too.....

Hi, I am sorry you are in such pain. I have never had laparoscopy done so I don't know what recovery is like. I did however had a D&C last year, and recovery for me from that took awhile. It was a good two weeks of meds and rest for me, and probably 6-8 weeks before all the bleeding and pain stopped. Did they give you some good pain meds? Make sure you call your dr if the pain gets any worse. Try to rest as much as you can, happy holidays.
