Recurrance - fighting with herbs and food - anyone else using this approach

Our mom was diagnosed with OC on 12/16/04 (age 62).  Like most cases, the DRs diagnosed her with everything else before finally realizing that it was OC.  If you read the "less likely" to get OC, she did/had/was almost all of them... So why she ever got OC is beyond us... Anyway, she underwent surgery and was diagnosed at stage 3c.  She did the chemo.  Then they put her on a trial drug.  In March 2006, the cancer came back.  She had surgery to remove a lymph node in her armpit.  The DR said she needed to do chemo.  She said NO.  He told her that without chemo she would only have 6 months to live.  She went to Tiajuana Mexico for "treatment" in April 2006.  Latrile (B17) injections, shark cartilage enemas, and lots of other herbs and stuff. In September 2006, tests at a hospital in the states showed no cancer (CT scan clear - CA125 under 30).  In December 2006, we noticed a lump on her neck.  She had the CA125 test again and it was 70, CT scan showed numerous tumors (attached to everything but heart, lungs, brain).
Now she is switching her path... She is eating only fruits and veggies, "detoxifying" her system with some herbs, and removing the "fluke" parasite with other herbs...
My question is... Has anyone done anything like this, skipping chemo... and how is it working?  Does anyone have any non-traditional "treatments" that have worked for them?
As a side note, although this is not the path we would have chosen for her, she is very happy, and that is what counts.  So, we all support her, and are all on-board with it (at least that is what we tell her).

Where is the clinic in utah?   I am dealing with a whole other issue with my husband with cancer and he like your mom wants to take a more natural approach.

Best wishes to your mom....

Best wishes for your mother's natural approach. Every person is different. It sounds like the clinic in Mexico was good but it only worked temporarily. Can she continue with that protocol if she's against chemo.

My advice is try but not too long. Cancer grows and multiplies fast.  It's not that bad doing chemo a second time. She's had enough time that she can do Carbo/Taxol again which is the best one so far. There are so many women that have become resistent to it and the other chemos don't work as well. Then after her second chemo she can really get into the immune efforts again. If she's against chemo, I would tell her to stop chemo when Carbo/Taxol doesn't work anymore. I know that she feels it will break down her immune system again. I know that feeling all too well and it is very true. But this cancer is all about defective genes, also.

Best wishes to your Mom,
Helen

While I appreciate what your mom is trying to do, I hope her Dr's will follow her closley to make sure her cancer isn't coming back. My cancer grew by over 2cm in one month while my Dr's argued about whether or not it was indeed cancer or scar tissue. I wish her the best of luck and hope she finds something that works for her.

Ovarian often has a defective tumor suppressor gene P53.

Grapeseed extract with resveratrol

may help with this.

You can read about it in the LEF articles

Ok here is a good idea what you should eat and what you should not eat to raise the PH level. First thing stay away from all fast food places. 70-80% of this food is basic and 1/2 of that should be raw. The traditional food pyamid is overall acidic. No micro wave foods, canned foods, processed food. If you are serious about trying this, eat fresh salads with lemon dressing, sprinkle with garlic. Leslee takes a huge salad with her to work each day and for her dessert she eats some fruit. She is buying bottled spring water. You can have most any fresh veggie except potatoes. Lettuce, onion, califlower, celery, fresh peas, cucumber, radishs, turnips, sprouts, cabbage, brussel sprouts, asparagus, green beans, tomato. Fruit includes Limes, lemons, tomatos, avacadofrfesh pineapple, mandrin oranges, RIPE bananas, pears, peaches, oranges, mango, tangerine, cranberries { Leslee snacks on the dried ones }. Other things brown rice, walnuts, macadamia, pumpkin seeds.  Foods not to eat, but if you do make it ma very small helping, all meat, hard cheese, homo milk, white bread, pitaschio nuts, peanuts, cashews, oleo. corn oil, butter, artificial sweetners, chocolate, white sugar, honey, ketchup, mayo, mustard, soy sauce, vinager, all alcohol beverages, coffee, most juices, black tea. Mix your own dressing up with flax seed oil, a little honey, garlic and lemon juice. I know this is not what we usually eat, but to try this for maybe 5 days on and then 5 days off, test the results daily and chart it, you can tell then if you need to go 7 days on  and 2 days off. Continue with all your vitamines and other suppliments that you take. Our stomachs just like to feel full. If a huge veggie/fruit plate will do it,  fine. Increasing your h2o intake will help flush the system also. Sams Choice dried mix is a great snack food.  Just remember that 20-30% of the diet can be acidic foods. You need a balence to stay healthy.

This is not an herb or a food but an activity: qi gong.

There are definitely no guarantees about any of this stuff, so do take everything with a grain of salt. But my husband has used qi gong healing, along with Chinese medicine and acupuncture, to help him prevent a recurrence of his bladder cancer. The other factors in his treatment have been conventional surgery to get the tumors out -- there were five -- plus treatment with BCG, as well as 3X/week injected fractional doses of interferon B.

His urologist has been totally amazed by the health of his system. The original treatment plan was to remove the entire bladder and prostate, followed by chemo and radiation. We turned that down in favor of keeping his organs intact and using these alternative approaches.

Fortunately the tumors were all inside the walls of the bladder, so it wasn't as complex as it could have been; but the current state of health of his bladder tissues has really surprised the conventional doc. He said it looks as if nothing was ever wrong, and that it doesn't even look like it's had surgery (he said this about 9 months after the original surgery).

Like any cancer recovery, it's hard to say what has helped the most, and some could just be the robustness of his own system, but I am a firm believer that the Chinese approach has been key to his return to health.

Best wishes to your mom,
jjsmama

I've been into herbal remedies since 2003...aromatherapy, essential oils, holistic medicine.  With my experience it has definitely improved my quality of life.  It is sooooo true about "detoxing" your system.  There's a clinic in Utah that my sister went to (for a benign condition) & witnessed Cancer patients making miraculous recoveries.  There are some specific toxic, cancer causing agents to stay away from: sodium laureyth sulfate, propylen glycol, & DEA; the obvious talc & aluminum should be avoided as well.  These toxic ingredients are very commonly found in everyday household products (toothpaste, body lotion, shampoo, deoderant, cleaning agents).  Check into it, it's worthwhile.  Places outside of the US, that are slightly advanced, are promoting this all in a major way now.  Check out Whole Foods & other markets like that; people there are generally very helpful.  Good luck, Peace.

Hi a good web site for reading about PH  is SnyderHealth.com.  It is the slightly over balanced on the alkaline side that really helps clense the system.  Give it a 2 week try and see if it helps. Daughter noticed a difference in 5 days .

Blood is the best   urine  next  saliva  least   accurate.   try to always get a "clean" grab of the urine.  Keep a record daily to look for changes if you then try to follow the alkaline regiment. Good Luck , daughters is raising slowly. 5.7  to 6.2 in one week. Watermelon and she is using garlic to season, laying off of meat for a while. There are some good sites on alkaline foods.

Hi- you are awesome in the amount of reputable research you do & share with us and the guidance you give your daughter!  What exactly did your daughter do with her ph level/ diet that resulted in her feeling a difference in five days?  Is urine ph the same as blood ph? I have also been doing tons of research and right now am trying to focus on ph level and 02.  Oxygen kills cancer cells.  I have been eating lots of veggies & fruits, use only olive oil, no processed foods, no sugars, no meats or dairy (except an egg every now an then).  My oncologist says diet can make me "healthier" but she doesn't believe it can prevent or make a difference with cancer.  I totally disagree- everything I read- some very reputable studies- says otherwise.  I am not medically trained, but intuitively I beleive that getting back to a more natural diet without all the chemicals/ pesticides has to make a difference. Our ancestors didn't deal with cancer at the levels we are.  I read a book called "Surviving Cancer" by Margie Levine and one of the steps she used to survive lung cancer that her drs. called hopeless was "veggie overdosing".  After 12 years, she is cancer free.  Rachael

When you say "raising her PH level" is this an alkaline level?  What is the optimal level? Thank you!

I have been doing vitamin C infusion twice a week.  I get 50 grams each time I go.  I have also been doing weekly taxol and my numbers are coming down.  I know if you do a search for vitamin c infusions  a lot of information comes up.  I do know I feel much better and I am not as tired.  So there must be something about building up your immune system with vitamins, herbs and food.  I just started both a few weeks ago but I know with all the chemo I have been on this past year my numbers were not moving to much.  My doctor believed the chemos were not working at all and they only gave me 5 to 6 months to live in December.  I am still going to the gym and everything else.  Right now I don't have any down days and I hope I don't, my plan is to get my numbers back to normal and keep doing the vitamin c treatments.  Good luck, Diane

Hello--My mother took a mushroom pill called coriolus when she was diagnosed with stage 4 inflammatory breast cancer and was told it was incurable by her doctors at MD Anderson.  (IBC is a very aggressive form of breast cancer.)  That was 2 years ago and she has been in remission for over a year now.  However, she did the conventional treatments too, so there is no way to really know if the coriolus made a difference, or if she just responded better than they expected to the medical treatment.  I hope I am not breaking any rules by mentioning this supplement, I do not mean to say it is some kind of miracle drug and it is expensive.

How does one get this PH test?  Can it be purchased from a pharmacy?  Or must the DR order it?

My only suggestion from my research would be to get a PH level and try to use that as a guide, it seems if you can raise the level to 7.6 or better that the cells might die. We are looking into it to prevent a recurrance.  Don't really know if any of these "work" but if she refuses chemo then maybe going the natural way might.  We use the traditional and natural both together.
