Recurrence of Ovarian Cancer Stage III

I would like to hear from any of you who have had ovarian cancer recurrence.  After how long after your chemo did it come back?  I was diagnosed with Ovarian Cancer Stage IIIb (grade c) in April 2005 and surgery was in May 2005.  I am now scheduled for my fourth chemo for a total of six.  I'm 50 years old and a total hysterectomy was performed with positive cancer cell residue on my stomach.  CA125 markers are coming down slowly - at third chemo it was still quite high, but I'm hoping it will come down soon.  I'm looking forward to hearing from you...

i too have 3C ovaca diagnosed oct 2004.total removal of anything reproductive & abdominal lymphnodes,6 rounds of taxol/carbo. was in remission 16 mos after ending chemo when a small mass showed up attached to my left ureter. symptoms were pressure/pain in that area, frequent urinating, nausea, burping just before my 3 month checkup. went to see gyn onc & he felt the mass, ca125 was 5, so he sent me for a ct scan which showed the mass. 1 week later it was out,a stent was put in my ureter to stay in through 6 rounds of taxol/carbo again. 2 down 4 to go! i will finish chemo 1 wk prior to my 48th b-day. my very first chemo was 2 days after my 45th. my onc said like any other chronic disease, it can come back but we will monitor with regular 3 mo checkups, paying attention to symptoms, & taking the prescribed chemo. prayers to you & family as your numbers come down! Good luck with your treatments.

Hi VaNative47, your remission of 16 months is a good sign.  Also, your CA 125 is in good shape.  Mine, at the last chemo, was around 800.  I'll be going for my fourth chemo this coming Thursday.  It'll be interesting to see how much it's dropped to.. thanks very much.. reimson

Hi, my wife is undergoing chemo treatment for OVCA 3rd recurrence since April this year.  She was initially diagnosed in Feb/March 2002, had total hysterectomy and underwent an aggressive 6-cycle chemo procedure until August 2002.  Her 1st recurrence was in Dec 2003. She had to undergo another 6-cycles of chemo, did'nt respond well, underwent surgery in May 2004, went thru' another 6-cycles of chemo until August 2004. She was in remission for about 8 to 9 months and a recurrence again in May 2005.  Underwent surgery again a month later and was put on another 6-cycles of chemo which ended early Dec 2005.  She was in remission for only 4 months.  Since April this year she is on chemo again.  She seems to be making progress albeit slowly.  She is of course quite fragile with all the surgeries and chemo. But she is a lady with strong will power.  I hope God will be kind to her.  We shall remember you and all our friends in this forum in our prayers.

Hi Karthick, sorry to hear about your mom.  It sound like this is something you might want to ask Dr Goodman on the attached forum.  Good luck, and best wishes..
