Recurrence

I was diagnosed with Stage IIC OVCA in April 2007 exactly 10 years after my Stage II Breast Cancer. Moderately differentiated serous carcinoma, both ovaries, fallopian tube, uterus, cul de sac 15 cm tumor, no lump[h nodes, pelvic washings positive for malignancy adenocarcinoma, small tumors on uterers.   One of my tumors on my ovary burst before surgery, this is how I found the cancer to begin with. Five hour surgwery, eight rounds of chemo, Taxol and Carbo Platin.  With all that being said, I am having constipation, pain around my bladder, back and beginning to not sleep again. I feel like my belly is enlarging again. My first three month check up is coming up Jan 17, and my question is this.  Should I wait, or ask sooner?  will only have my first post-chemo CA-125 when I go in.  I am scarred and just wanted some feed back.

As I have read so many of these submissions, I am in awe of all of your strength and courage.  Thanks for taking the time to answer this.

Colleen,
I am sorry to hear of your recurrence but wish you the best of luck with your treatments. Avastin has been doing wonderful things with ovarian cancer so hopefully it will kick yours in the butt.

Good luck with your treatments. I am on topotecan for a spot near or on my liver.  I tried carbo/taxotere this time, but reacted to carbo.  Now, on topotecan and hope it works .. but only had one tx and it's too soon to tell.

Keeping you in my prayers,

Judy

I finally had a recurrence this past September 2008, 11 months after my last treatment of Carbo/Taxol.   It was on and in my liver, will have eight treatments of Doxil/Carbo/Avastin and done by June 2009.  I have learned that each day is precious and nothing is more important than love.  May all of you find peace every day.

I am glad to see that you folowed the other women's opinions and decided not to wait. As we haveall come to find out, that waiting game is a hard one to play. Not to mention you will have some kind of peace of mind, no matter what the outcome. That constant worrying does not do anyone any good. I hope that you will recieve good news. Please let us know.  Chris

I too hope you get good news and that you are just having some weird symptoms of something mundane.  Please don't wait.  If they can see you ealier go.  If they don't have any openings ask to be put on a list to be called if  there is a cancellation.  Good luck to you

Oh Colleen, I will be praying for a low ca-125 number and NO recurrence!!! Think positive, as much as you can, please. The mind is very powerful. There is nothing going on in your body, you're too strong for that. With love, Deandra

Hi Colleen... I agree with Ronni...don't wait. Go and see about it now, as this cancer doesn't wait for anyone. You need to try and stay on top of it, and putting off seeing about it, only gives it the edge. Best of luck, and do let us know how you go with it all....hugs....Helen...

I agree.  I would call as well.  Your emotional well-being is already at risk and will just worsen as you wait for your January appointment.  I have also been in that situation and completely understand your fears.  You are there to work with your team towards wellness.   Vegas is right--it might be nothing.

Good luck Colleen

I personally wouldn't wait.  Call NOW.  I am fortunate to live In Costa Rica where I can go to the lab monthly to get my ca125 without doctors orders etc.. pick up the results late afternoon... 3 weeks is a long way to wait and so I would not hesitiate to call.  Please remember they work for you and not the other way aorund...
Good luck and I hope its nothing.... Ronni
