Recurring Free Fluid in cul-de-sac

Recurring Free Fluid in cul-de-sac

My 15 year old daughter has had recurring bouts of severe abdominal pain for the last 18 months.  The pain always occurs on the right side, radiating around to her lower back and is so severe that she is unable to do anything but curl up in pain.  Last June she had exploratory laproscopy to see what the pain was caused from and the doc found a softball-sized cyst hiding behind her right ovary.  The doc drained the cyst but told us that they normally don't remove the cysts.  True to form, the cyst has filled up again and again, every time when it bursts and creates the free fluid in her cul-de-sac, she experiences severe abdominal pain.  We have gone back to her gyn several times and were told that she would just have to live with the pain that is caused by this free fluid.  But that answer doesn't sit well with me.  There has got to be something they can do to stop this.  She's been on low-dose birth control pills for the last 18 months and they don't seem to be resolving this.  I'm seriously thinking I need a second opinion.
Any help or advise you can give would be greatly appreciated.  It's tough enough to raise a teenager without the addition of this monthly unbearable pain.

I would definitely get a second opinion.  Any physician that says she has to "live with" the pain once a month deserves to be fired.  Ask around and find her the best Gyn you can, she needs an good understanding one.   Good luck

Wow...sounds like your doc has no empathy let alone compassion and medical expertise.  If she was my daughter I would take her to see a gyn/oncologist as soon as I could get in.  Not because it is cancer but because abnormalities, such as you are dealing with, are his/her specialty.  Cysts the size of soft balls are not normal and she should NOT have to learn to live with the pain....that is absurd.
You are right...raising a teenage daughter is tough enough without all this stuff.  The entire situation angers me......I definately would not go bact to that idiot gyn.....get your daughter's medical records and find a gyn/oncologist.....YoU HAVE ONLY ONE CHANCE TO GET IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME.....find a gyn/oncologist. Nobody should be allowed to perform any type of invasive procedure  on your daughter unless they are a gyn/oncologist.  Please do keep us posted.
Peace.
